In the pursuit of creating a masterpiece, one must possess the ability to efficiently open and navigate through various image assets, seamlessly transferring them to the Photoshop workspace. Adobe Photoshop provides a format called Adobe Bridge for managing and locating your images, ensuring a streamlined workflow. In this guide, we will explore the process of opening, saving, and editing images in Photoshop, enabling you to unleash your creativity and bring your vision to life.

Opening an Image:

After creating a new document, it is essential to explore the available options within Photoshop. One such option is opening an image or a photo. To open a document, follow these steps:

From the top of the File Menu, click on "File."

Select "Open" (or use the shortcut Cmd + O / ctrl + O) to initiate the process.

A display of your stored images will appear, allowing you to browse through your computer folders and locate the desired image.

Once you have found the image you're looking for, you have two options to open it in Photoshop:

Option 1: Highlight the image (or select multiple images simultaneously) and click on the "Open" button located at the lower right corner of the browser window. The selected image(s) will open in Photoshop.

Option 2: Double-click on the desired image, and it will automatically open in Photoshop.

Saving and Editing Images:

Now that you have your image open in Photoshop, you can proceed to edit and enhance it according to your creative vision. After making the necessary adjustments, it's crucial to save your work. To save an image in Photoshop, follow these steps:

From the top of the File Menu, click on "File."

Select "Save" (or use the shortcut Cmd + S / ctrl + S) to save the changes made to the current document.

If you want to save the image with a new name or format, choose "Save As" instead, and specify the desired name and file format.

By following these steps, you can effectively open, save, and edit images in Adobe Photoshop, allowing you to bring your artistic ideas to fruition.

Remember:  If you open any image and you don’t add any new layer during the editing process till you save it, it will only be saved in its original jpeg format. However, if you involve layers and adjustment during the process of editing, it will simply be saved in PSD format to keep those layers.

Mastering the process of opening and saving images in Photoshop is a fundamental skill for any aspiring artist or designer. With the ability to seamlessly access and manipulate your image assets, you can unleash your creativity and transform ordinary visuals into extraordinary works of art. So, start exploring the endless possibilities that Adobe Photoshop offers and embark on a journey of visual storytelling and expression.
